Shaikha studied Civil Engineering at University of California and currently works as Structures Engineer at AECOM.
It’s been an incredible opportunity working at a world-class company like AECOM. I’ve been put on 3 different bridge projects where I had to design and consult various structural components of bridges all over California. It opened up a new interest for me as far as structural engineering in the transportation field, where i would gladly take to home country. The PDI team have been the best support through all of this, and especially working hard to get me positioned in AECOM.
AlMeqdad received his master's degree in structural engineering at University of Colorado, Boulder, is a project engineer at Ascent Group, Inc.
It's been over a year now at Ascent Group. I managed to work on more than 25 different projects, from residential remodels and custom houses, to commercial buildings and miscellaneous structures. With each project comes different challenges and opportunities to expand my knowledge in the structural engineering field. After about 10 months, we decided to continue our working relationship and apply for the STEM OPT extension, which would grant me a 2 year extension to continue working in the US. I believe this will be a defining moment in my career, and I would like to thank my family, friends and the PDI team for supporting me on this journey.
Omar Al Theyab
Omar got his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at New Mexico State University. Currently, he is an improvement engineer at Dow Chemical.
Being with Dow is an amazing experience. I am learning how the real world functions and what the challenges are in a professional setting. The company provides me with a wide range of opportunities to learn and expand. Currently, I am working on a variety of projects that are allowing me to apply the knowledge and skills that I’ve acquired in the past. I strongly recommend that Kuwaiti students take advantage of this journey and gain a lifetime experience with PDI.
Abdullah studied mechanical engineering at Stanford University and currently works as Engineering Market Research Analyst at XFlow Energy.
My time at XFlow has been extremely rewarding so far. As part of an early-stage venture working on bringing engineering innovation from the research lab into the real world, my primary role has been to help the company find a product-market fit through need-finding and conducting techno-economic analyses.
